What is a clip-in point?
A clip-in point is the area where you will attach a lead to a collar or harness. We offer the following clip-in point options:
4mm D-Ring
4mm thick, steel, welded d-ring. This is our lightest duty clip-in option. Plenty strong enough for everyday use, but lightweight so it does not affect the weight of the collar.
Used on our 1″ Summit Collars and 1″ Soft Collars
5mm D-Ring
5mm thick, steel, welded d-ring. This is a thicker d-ring to better accommodate a wider collar, but still maintains a lightweight and low profile.
Used on our 1.5″ Summit Collars
1″ V-Ring
7mm, stainless steel, v-ring. The 1″ V-Ring is one of our most secure clip-in options. Rated at 4,000lbs it is only featured on our Defender and Operator Series since it is designed for working dogs. These V-Rings do weigh more, but are extremely strong
Used on our 1.5″ Rigid Collars and 2″ Rigid Collars —including the bespoke leather versions of each collar
1.75″ V-Ring
7mm, stainless steel, v-ring. The 1.75″ V-Ring accommodates wider webbing, but also offers the strongest option with a rating of 6,000lbs.
Used on our 1.75″ Soft Collar, 3″ Rigid Collar, and Harnesses
Soft Clip-In
A unique metal-free option, the soft clip-in point is inspired by climbing harnesses belay loops. A nylon loop forms the clip-in point, which offers a very lightweight and silent alternative to metal. This can be great for handlers worried about noise from a lead or if the dog is constantly hitting a collar against a metal kennel. Soft Clip-Ins have been independently tested to 600lbs, however this is not an official strength rating.
An upgrade options that can be used on our 1.5″ Rigid Collars and 2″ Rigid Collars —including the bespoke leather versions of each collar
Note:
We do not recommend a Soft Clip-In on collars that will be used for agitation or bite work training. While they are a strong option, the constant friction of metal on nylon during training can wear down the nylon overtime and may compromise the integrity of the clip-in point.
