Tracking Harness

$349.99$394.99

Description

The Tracking Harness is made of durable mil-spec materials and climbing rated hardware—creating the strongest, most heavy-duty, tactical dog harness available. Our harness design offers a greater range of motion and allows greater airflow than traditional K9 vests.

Military (MWD), Police ( LEO), and Search and Rescue (SAR) Working Dogs will appreciate the rear chest strap which makes this harness perfect for tracking. The rear strap also allows the dog to be lifted safely and prevents the dog from backing out of the harness.

Heavy Duty Mil-Spec Webbing

We use the same type of webbing the military uses for construction of parachute harnesses throughout the entire harness design which is quick drying, mold and mildew resistant and strength rated to 7,000 lbs.

Padded Chest Plate

Padding at the center of the chest provides comfort and safety for the K9.

ISC Klick-Lock Buckles

Klick-Lock Buckles are redundant, meaning both sides have to be depressed to release the buckle and the release buttons are recessed which prevents accidental unclipping.

Integrated Handle

Our large handle gives you complete manual control of your dog and can be used to lift the dog over obstacles.

Molle and Loop Attachment

Loop covered Molle on the left and right sides of the harness allows the handler to attach accessories, pouches or affix ID patches.

Adjustable Shoulder Straps

Ergonomic shoulder straps utilize a metal adjuster for maximum retention.

Accessory Loop

An accessory loop at the apex of the shoulder blades is included for attaching any light or tracker that is made for 1" webbing. It can also accommodate or ID Plate for identification.

Chemlight Loops

Elastic loops are included for attaching chemlights to both sides of the harness.

Overview

This harness has not been strength rated for rappelling.

Taking a harness measurement

We recommend using a tailor’s tape to measure (the same as if you were getting measured for a suit). If you do not have a tailor’s tape you can use a piece of string that you then measure along a tape measure. Simply wrap the tape/string around the dog as shown below, pull it “tight”—that measurement will determine what size is best.

High quality, slow application

A buckled solution would be much more practical for the chest area, just like with mantrailing harnesses. Without buckles, it takes a lot more time to put it up to the dog. We use it for mantrailing, the harness must have quick and easy application because this procedure turns the dog on to work. The material and the two buckless on the back are amazing quality.

Hi, thanks so much for the review and for the suggestion. As you have noted, you do have to lift 1 leg to put the harness on. We have considered adding additional buckles. However, buckles are heavy, expensive, and a potential failure point, so the fewer buckles we can incorporate the better. One of the easiest ways is to put on the harness is to put that leg through first, then the harness up and on to the back, so that you can buckle the chest strap. This will only add a second or two when putting on the harness. Once the sizing is dialed the harness should be able to be put on in several seconds. We hope that helps. If you need any assistance or have questions, please reach out to our support team.

Really Good Harnes

I really like the harness. The only thing that is keeping it from a 5 star review is that it is difficult to adjust it to make it fit my K9.

Hi Chad,
Thanks for the review. The harness can take a while to adjust. The great thing is that once it is fitted properly, you shouldn't have to mess with the adjustment and the buckles allow you to put on or remove the harnesses very quickly. We do use a hook and loop to keep the adjustment straps tidy, but it is important to note that it does not serve any structural significance—as the metal buckles are what provide all retention. For a how-to guide on adjusting the harness, we recommend following these instructions: https://www.modernicon.us/support/harness-adjustment/. If you have any questions please let our support team know so that we can assist further!
