Which products are good for use in the water / at the beach?
Most of our products are designed for extreme conditions and will function well in any environment, including the beach. However, it is important to practice proper care for your gear.
Many of our products are constructed using nylon webbing and metal components on our products are either stainless steel, brass, or a high quality steel (often coated) that are not easily susceptible to rusting.
Our Coastal Leads were designed using BioThane® webbing, which is webbing coated with rubber. This material acts and feels like leather, but is maintenance free and waterproof. We only use stainless steel or brass hardware on our Coastal Leads.
We do not recommend extensive water exposure for our Bespoke Leather Products. These products use a high-end leather, and while many customers do use their gear in any and all environments, we recommend treating the leather as you would with other luxury leather products.
What care is best after the water or beach?
If products are exposed to saltwater, sand, or dirt it is important to rinse the product clean. This is especially true of sand, as the sharp silica will create micro-abrasions that will wear down webbing over time.
Be sure to hang products up and air dry immediately after rinsing. This is to prevent mildew in the nylon and oxidization of metal components.
