Purchased the 1.5 Summit collar to fit my dogs Fi 3 series GPS. Have a Siberian Husky that has gotten out of colllars before. This collar not only looks good, I feel it fastens securely giving me peace of mind. Highly recommend!

Fi is a GPS module for your dog. Using a combination of cellular signal and eGPS, Fi tracks your dogs location—this allows you to set a geofence for alerts if your dog ever runs away and find them. Does my Modern Icon collar come with Fi? Can I just buy it from you?
No, Fi does not allow 3rd parties to sell the modules. It is best to purchase the module from them anyway, as you will need to pick a subscription plan for the software. You can visit https://shop.tryfi.com to purchase your Fi module.
The Fi module comes with a collar. Why do I need your collar?
When you purchase a Fi module it comes with a band. While you can use the band as a collar there are some limitations: First, the Fi is in-line with the collar—meaning any force you put on the collar is transferred to the Fi. For strong pullers or certain situations this can put a lot of stress on the Fi module. On our collar the Fi mounts to the outside of the collar, so there is no force put on the Fi, no matter how hard your dog pulls. Second, because the Fi is in-line, every time you want to charge the module or if you decide you don’t want to use the module you cannot use the Fi collar. On our collar the Fi mounts to the outside, so if you take the Fi module off you still have a perfectly functional dog collar. Third, the Fi collar is high quality, but it is still uses a plastic buckle. Our collar can be upgraded to an all-metal climbing-rated Cobra buckle for ultimate strength. Last but not least, our collars can be customized with embroidery or a number of other add-ons.
Are your other collars Fi compatible?
Yes and No. Technically the Fi module must be able to be charged without removing it from the collar for the collar to be Fi approved. Our 1.5″ Summit Collar was specifically designed to meet this criteria. We can make our 1″ Summit Collar, 1.5″ Rigid Collar, and 2″ Rigid Collar (including our Leather Wrapped Rigid Collars) Fi compatible; Also our Rigid Modular Collar has a Fi add-on option. The caveat with these is that at least one side of the Fi module will need to be unhooked for charging. What is the difference between the Series 2 and Series 3? Can I upgrade?
Fi released the Series 3 which offers a more streamlined module with a handful of technological updates that you can read here. Unfortunately the endlinks (metal brackets used to mount the Fi) are not backwards compatible and we cannot update the endlinks after the collar is made. The Series 2 endlinks are an open design, so they can be installed into, or be removed from, the 1.5″ Summit Collar at any time. The disadvantage is that the endlinks can get lost if the module is removed or mounted incorrectly. The Series 3 endlinks are a closed (loop) design, so they must be threaded through the webbing during the manufacturing process. Because this is one of the first steps in our design, it is not possible to remove or swap out the endlinks once the collar is made. The advantage is that the endlinks cannot fall off.
How do I install the Fi?
Fi Series 3 Collars are straight forward and instructions can be found on Fi’s website: here. Fi Series 2 require the endlinks (metal brackets) to be oriented correctly, otherwise the module may fall off the collar. For that reason we highly recommend reviewing these instructions if you have a Series 2 module. There are also some charging and removal tips as well.
Which add-ons do you offer on your collar? Can I have more than 1?
When you are on the 1.5″ Summit Collar page, you will have the option to pick your collar color, size, and upgrade to a Cobra buckle. You will then see an option to make your collar Fi compatible and select the applicable Fi Series. Lastly you can opt for an add-on; these include: embroidery, a sew-on patch, handle, or a loop panel. For examples of each add-on, please see the “Add-Ons” tab (usually under the “Add to Cart” button). From there you can see a description and video example of each option. Please note that we only allow 1 add-on. There is not enough room to accomodate more than 1 add-on. The good news is that both the Fi module and 1 add-on will fit! If you need a form of identification and want a handle or loop panel, we highly recommend considering our Tagless ID Plate—it will fit with the Fi and an add-on.
What size collar do I need?
To get a proper measurement for your dog’s collar, we recommend using tailor’s tape (think measuring yourself for a suit). Follow these instructions to make sure you have the perfect fit. If your measurement is in between sizes, reach out to our support team.
